Fixed Wire Testing - EICR

Fixed Wire Testing - Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR)

Terms used to describe the inspection and testing of electrical wiring within a building.

As legislation has evolved, fixed wire testing can also be known as Periodic Inspection and Testing, Electrical Installation Testing or more recently, Electrical Installation Condition Report - EICR.

The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 require that all electrical systems and equipment used in a working environment should be in a safe condition. The Health and Safety Executive recommend that in order to comply with the regulation, an electrical inspection and testing programme should be implemented, at all places of work.

The frequency of inspection and testing is dependent upon the type of environment of your business.

What is included in the fixed wire test process?

Firstly, only suitably trained and qualified electricians should undertake electrical testing. The One Stop Shop only use suitably qualified electricians to undertake fixed wire testing.

A site overview and communication with the main site contact assists with minimising any workplace disruption.

At the completion stage of testing, a detailed Electrical Installation Condition Report is issued.  The report will contain the results of the test process and will list any recommendation for remedial action, to ensure adherence to current standards.
